Silly Sleepless Sam...

Sam is growing up and he seems to know it himself. Soon after his 1st birthday things began to change. He developed what one might call an 'attitude'. Oh nothing too serious but he sure can have an opinion about things now.

He still isn't walking but he's constantly standing by everything. He's interested to a point in walking but always resorts back to the quickest method of travel, crawling. Yesterday in the sandbox I noticed that he was able to get to standing position without grabbing on to anything. The sand gave him a little extra leverage and he was enjoying it. Of course, he loves stairs and has been successfully climbing up them for some time. He's pretty good about down too as long as it is only a few steps. Our camper has 2 steps inside and he had to figure them out since it's a pretty small space and I really couldn't block them off in any way.

Over Labor Day weekend he got 3 new teeth. Yep 3 almost entirely at the same time. They are all three upper teeth and the 4th isn't too far away. I thought perhaps this would help with his terrible sleeping habits but so far it hasn't proven to make a difference. Not sure what bothers him but he is by far our worst sleeper. He's pretty happy and content otherwise so I haven't worried about it too much but it sure can be frustrating sometimes!

Oh what else? He's cute as a button and hiccups every time he laughs (so did Jake and Ben). He's pretty much given up formula and moved on to milk, though he doesn't really care as long as he can still have his bottle. The bottle, he started a funny thing with it the last week or so. When he takes his bottle before falling asleep he won't let go of it. It is really quite funny, empty or not, he holds on to it with a death grip. I pried it out of his fingers one night and I regretted it - he was screaming mad. After a little more deep sleep his lets go of it. Silly kid.

He doesn't really like the walker too much but outside he tolerates it. We took it along to the shop the other day and helped Curt for awhile, he thought that was pretty fun. When he uses it at our house and gets on the gravel, he actually picks it up and moves it. Pretty smart boy we have!
Mr. Sammers finally getting to enjoy his smash cake. I think it was 3 days or so after his birthday. He shared it with Ben and Jake and had a good time. Not sure if he ever reached the cake but the frosting was great.
